Equipment focus: SDLG LG690E excavator

Myanmar’s AKZ Fishery and Rental recently developed and constructed one of the country’s largest fish farms and selected an SDLG LG690E – the first to be deployed in South East Asia — to dig the five-hectare main pond.

The Irrawaddy Delta region of Myanmar has seen its fish farm production output increase by an estimated 250 percent over the last decade. To keep up with this increased demand, larger and larger farms are being built.

The larger farms mean mechanical excavation is needed rather than relying on traditional manual labour to dig the ponds.

AKZ Fishery and Rental managing director Kyaw Swe met with local SDLG distributor Win Strategic and the decision was made to purchase the LG690E.

Apart from excavation work on the new pond, the SDLG LG690E excavator will also be used for pond maintenance works such as slope trimming and repair work.

Swe has been pleased with the performance, saying: “This SDLG compact excavator is useful for our needs because it can manoeuvre the narrow access roads we have here and get the job done neatly, while still delivering the power we need.”

The LG690E is powered by a Tier 2 Yanmar 4TNV94 engine with a three-stage fuel filter to improve emissions further, SDLG says.

The company says the LG690E’s hydraulics employ a suspension damping effect that reduces machine vibration by 20 percent.

The cab features a wide vision front visor and can be configured with FOPS/ROPS for higher operator safety. The cab is also fully air-conditioned for operator comfort.

The LG690E’s chassis has been made from strengthened steel for greater reliability and longer service life. Maintenance is made easy with a three-door steel engine hood providing ground-level access to daily maintenance points.
