JCB adds 135HD and 155HD to skid steer loader range

JCB has added two new models to its Australian skid steer range — the 135HD and 155HD — which it says are purpose-built to operate in harsh environments and confined spaces.

The smaller profile of the loaders lends itself to a variety of applications from small farming operations to landscape material suppliers, according to JCB Construction Equipment Australia (JCB CEA).

Both new loaders have an operating weight of just under 3 tonnes (2,770kg for the 135HD and 2,990kg for the 155HD) and are both powered by Perkins 404D-22 engines — but the 155HD’s engine has been turbocharged.

Both models are fitted with 95-litre fuel tanks and feature fuel filtration systems to keep emissions down. The hydraulics can push 70 lpm through the arm when running at 2600 rpm, with a main relief pressure of 230 bar.

JCB says the operator’s cab is 46 percent larger than comparable models on the market, and has been ergonomically designed to ensure maximum operator comfort. The cab also has an oversized entry door and increased visibility. All controls are located on a centrally located 3-way joystick for easy use.

“JCB’s side cab entry and our exclusive low-slung Powerboom design means that there’s excellent visibility to both the left and right side of the machine,” JCB CEA national compact product manager Phil Withell says.

“There’s a 270 degree field of vision on the 135HD and 155HD compared with just 165 degrees on other brands on the market.”

The JCB skid steers have daily maintenance points located in easily accessible places. For more complex maintenance, the 135HD and 155HD can tilt their bodies forward to provide access to the engine bay and components.
