Geospatial specialist Position Partners has teamed up with drone data platform Propeller Aero to offer customers complete end-to-end Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) bundles that can deliver survey-grade results.
The bundles have been designed specifically for surveying purposes and combine drone aircraft from global manufacturer DJI with Propeller Aero’s cloud-based data platform and AeroPoints ground control system.
“We are delighted to offer these comprehensive and unique RPAS bundles,” Position Partners national RPAS manager Gavin Docherty says.
“They make getting survey grade accuracy with aerial mapping technology a simple and reliable process, from as little as $18,000.”
In terms of aircraft, customers have a choice between the lightweight Phantom 4 aircraft or the more heavy-duty M100 high-performance quadcopter. The latter offers longer flight times, enhanced stability in-flight and advanced collision avoidance.
Position Partners says the package is elevated to survey-grade with the addition of Propeller Aero’s AeroPoint ground control system.
“AeroPoints are the only ground control points in the world that deliver absolute MGA (Map Grid of Australia) coordinates, with built-in GNSS, PPK, WiFi and solar panel technology,” Docherty says.
“Previous ground control systems worked off a ‘near-enough, good-enough’ basis, which simply doesn’t cut it for survey applications.
“With AeroPoints there are no more spraypaint-marked points and no need to use a survey rover. You simply set them down, press a button, and fly the aircraft. You can then process, analyse and share incredibly accurate 3D surveys through Propeller’s online platform.”
Propeller Aero’s co-founder and co-CEO Rory San Miguel says he’s excited about the partnership and that it makes survey-quality data available to a much larger user base.
