The new trucks cover payloads from 45 to 100 tonnes, and Volvo says they have been designed to cut fuel use while improving operator safety.

The haulers allow owners to focus on productivity, uptime and operator comfort and are designed to work with wheel loaders and excavators from Volvo CE’s other product lines.

“Mine sites in Asia-Pacific continue to evolve,” Volvo CE sales support VP AM Muralidharan says.

“Companies are constantly searching for better productivity. That’s why the addition of these rigid haulers is welcome news.

“Of course they feature the industry-leading fuel efficiency and productivity which our customers expect. But just as importantly they work alongside our family of mining machines, including excavators, wheel loaders and more. This delivers a total equipment solution to Volvo customers.”

Volvo says the new models have been built for a long service life, and feature a frame assembly with structural strength beyond what is required for the toughest job sites.

The operator cabins have full FOPS/ROPS protection as standard, and the cabins have improved visibility thanks to Volvo’s ‘Smart View’ system which combines vision from four cameras to give a bird’s-eye view of operations via an onboard monitor.

All four new models use high-performance engines designed to deliver power even at low engine speeds.

Modern electronic integration between the engine and transmission means smoother gearshifts, while the integrated shift pattern enhances performance and fuel efficiency. The gearbox also has two automated transmission shift schedules – power and economy – that change shifting behaviour based on the load being carried.

Accessing the machine is safe and easy thanks to anti-slip steps and secure walkways. From both the wide platform and ground level, technicians can safely access conveniently grouped checkpoints.
