The 2018 Queensland Mining and Engineering Exhibition saw 230 exhibitors gather to showcase their products at the Mackay Showgrounds recently.
There was just so much to see at the Queensland Mining Exhibition we didn’t know where to start. From workplace safety gear to machinery to mining technology, we’ve put together some of the best gear we saw at QME 2018 in Mackay.
MaxiSafe G-Force Impax safety gloves
MaxiSafe’s innovative G-Force Impax safety gloves feature heavy-duty impact and abrasion protection on the fingers and back and an anti-vibration silicone gel palm pad. The gloves also feature durable synthetic anti-slip fingertips for work in slippery conditions.
Breathesafe cab
The cab on display at the Breathesafe stand uses a dual HEPA (High-efficiency Particulate Air) fresh air pressuriser system to ensure operators aren’t exposed to excessive dust and fibres. The cab is also capable of automatically monitoring cab pressure levels and alerting site office in the event of a breach.
Astec BTI MBS12S rockbreaker
Astec had its MBS12S portable rockbreaker on display at QME. Astec says the MBS12S offers a cost-effective on-plant permanent solution to portable and mobile crushing applications.
JCB 541-70 telehandler
With a four-tonne lift capacity and a lift height of seven metres, JCB’s 541-70 telehandler is a tough machine built for load-bearing and stability. Heavy-duty axle feet help the telehandler absorb the immense stresses generated in mining or construction environments.
Auger Torque MT900 trencher
Auger Torque’s MT900 trencher is suitable for excavators and skid steer loaders in the 3-5 tonne range and is intended for trenches between 600mm and 900mm in depth. The trencher’s tungsten teeth will rip through just about anything and will have you installing that pipe or cable in no time.
JCB 155 HD skid steer
The 155 is one of the lightest skid steer loaders in the JCB range. The radial-lift JCB 155 has an operating capacity of 703kg and is powered by a 42kW diesel.
Cat worksite VR simulator
On the high-tech side of things, Cat was at QME with its revolutionary worksite VR simulator. The system uses a virtual reality headset and controllers to help operators learn in a realistic environment, ensuring capable operators in the future.
Service Bodies Australia Isuzu NPS 4×4 truck
These mine-spec Isuzu trucks come ready-to-work fully customised with gull-wing body doors, shelving and toolboxes plus whatever else is required on your site. The trucks can even be fitted with a folding FOPS guard for the roof.
Optus Satellite and Marchnet mining comms tower
One of the realities of mining in Australia is just how remote the sites are, which can make communication with the outside world difficult. Optus Satellite aims to give maximum coverage right across the country with the help of satellite dish manufacturer MarchNet.
Atlas Copco XAS 88 portable air compressor
The XAS 88 air compressor can deliver up to 100psi of pressure from its Kubota V 1505T engine, producing around five cubic metres of compressed air per minute. The XAS 88 can also be conveniently towed behind any normal passenger car without the need for specialty licences.
Diacon safety panels
These durable plastic panels are for use on conveyor belts. The panels have been designed to be as quick and easy to install as possible, and Diacon says the panel’s design exceeds what is required by Australian safety standards.
Titan excavator tracks
Titan is a specialist maker of tracks, wheels, tyres and axles formed by the amalgamation on various tyre and wheel companies. Pictured here is a cross-section of one of Titan’s heavy-duty undercarriage systems.
