Accessing the best with Porter Hire

A significant investment in the very latest equipment from a stable of trusted manufacturers has bolstered Porter Hire’s large rental equipment fleet even further

The ability of companies in almost any sector of construction to quickly tool up with the very latest in machine technology is now easier than ever, says Porter Hire Australia national hire manager Paul Kot.

An established ‘go to’ for flexible short- and long-term machine rental for the construction industry across Victoria, New South Wales, the ACT and Queensland, Porter Hire has recently undertaken its biggest hardware upgrade to date – rolling out top-of-the-line new machines across a variety of industries onto its combined hire fleet.

“We have a huge selection of machines and attachments from a variety of trusted manufacturers available to customers, including these brand-new additions,” says Kot.

“They represent a significant investment in ensuring Porter Hire customers have access to the best of the best whenever it’s needed.”

The new machines available through Porter Hire include the Hyundai HX350L Excavator and other models in the Hyundai Excavator range

Among the new additions are the latest Hyundai HX excavator range, which takes operator connectivity, comfort and safety to a new level of excellence in the heavy machinery market.

Also included in the expansion are a significant amount of new Ammann rollers, which include a variety of single drum, tandem and multi-tyred rollers. Other new additions to the fleet include Cat D6 dozers and Cat 150M graders.

Kot believes both new and existing hire customers will be impressed with the level of standard safety and technology specification available in the new machines.

“Advances in technology – and specifically technology which improves operator safety – have become ever more beneficial to construction companies on the jobsite,” he says.

“The flexibility of Porter Hire’s rental programs means customers in all sorts of disciplines can now benefit from this technology, too.”

Kot says the majority of Porter Hire’s client base are contractors to Tier 1 construction entities but, overall, the variety of customers is equal only to the diverse locations Porter Hire machines are transported to when they’re needed.

“We have customers in the gas and coal industry up in the Toowoomba region,” says Kot.

“We have machines in the Hunter Valley mines and available to the renewable energy sector, such as at wind and solar farm projects, along with on multiple highway construction and property development sites. You’ll see machinery proudly displaying Porter Hire livery all over the place – more so than ever before.”

Kot says that Porter Group has plans to continue expanding the national footprint of the Porter Hire network beyond the eastern seaboard.

“Futureproofing our resources extends to our people as well,” he adds.

“We’ve recently appointed new territory managers based in Newcastle and Melbourne. Like other parts of the Porter Group business, we believe in our people as much as our machines, so having customer focused staff assisting our clients is a key part of the entire experience.”

As is service and support in the field. Having Porter Equipment’s original equipment manufacturer backing means every hire machine comes fully serviced and ready to go, with a solid supply chain providing replacement parts if needed.

“We acknowledge that most clients need a rental machine to fill a gap in their on-site fleet resource and fill it fast,” explains Kot.

“Part of making sure our customers remain productive is making sure the hire gear they rely upon is fit-for-purpose from the moment it arrives on-site.

“This includes both any given machine’s standard specification, along with extras such as tilt hitches or fire suppression systems for machinery destined for work in various tunnel projects, for example.

“It doesn’t end with the machine delivery, though. For our longer-term customers, we treat their hire equipment like a machine they might own, with the same responsive and comprehensive servicing, performed at scheduled intervals convenient to their operations.”

Kot says that in addition to the advanced technology the new Porter Hire fleet machines boast as part of their general specification, customers will also have the option of being able to select extra technical accuracy and ability in the form of advanced 3D GPS machine control systems.

“This option delivers customers the latest combination of technology that will allow their teams to work more efficiently,” he says.

Three-dimensional GPS machine control software prevents over excavation and rework by tracking every bucket movement in real-time, ensuring target grades are reached precisely.

Using a touchscreen in the cab, the excavator operator can dig to design accurately every time, regardless of whether they are in a trench, on the flat or shaping more complex designs.

A machine can be supplied with a full system or can be prepped with the cabling to eventually adopt machine control. The beauty of this is that the machines can be capable and ready to go when on-hire or have the head unit removed when off-hire.

This flexibility also comes into its own as seasonal priorities change.

Porter Equipment’s latest machinery includes the new Ammann roller range

Another impressive advance in technology available to Porter Hire customers arrives with the new Ammann roller range.

Ammann ACE (Ammann Compaction Expert) is a fully automated continuous compaction control system allowing operators to set unlimited amplitude and frequency to gain desired compaction targets.

Using a logical system menu onscreen in the cab, Ammann ACE intelligent compaction technology helps road contractors achieve efficiency, quality, and documented results on their jobsites.

By ensuring accuracy and eliminating operator error, work speed is improved while mandated specifications are met.

“Keeping up with new technology is important for our hire customers – they need equipment that is going to provide a quick turn-key solution, be dependable and allow them to work faster and smarter,” concludes Kot.

“We’re very pleased to be able to deliver on the request for the very latest options for clients everywhere.

The Cat 150M Grader is also available through Porter Hire

The growth that Porter Hire has experienced in recent times has been exceptional, and we have plans in place to ensure even more customers further afield will be able to benefit from not only the latest flexibly available machine technology, but also the end-to-end service and support our company is renowned for.

“It’s going to be a very busy construction season ahead. But with the increase in machinery numbers and the technological and safety improvements these machines bring with them, we know we’ll have a great solution for any customer, anywhere.”
