With three new wheel loader models on the market and an admirable customisation capacity, Active Machinery is coming to an event near you soon

With machines built in China and assembled at its base in Dandenong South, Victoria, Active Machinery has been providing quality and affordable earthmoving equipment to Australian customers for over 20 years.
Building its own range of excavators, mini skid steers and wheel loaders, the Australian-owned company prides itself on having products to suit every customer’s needs.
This is particularly true of Active’s 15-strong wheel loader range, with some of the existing models having worked more than 15,000 hours and still going strong.
Active sales team member Steven Willis says that there has been particular interest in the larger models in the range – the 17-tonne AL950E, the 19.5-tonne AL958E and the 23-tonne AL966E – with the company now in the early stages of planning a 30-tonne model.
Each of the existing larger models now come with reversing cameras for an additional boost to safety and an auto greasing system that helps cut down on maintenance time.
Built to withstand tough Australian weather conditions, the AL966E is powered by a 240 horsepower (179kW) Caterpillar engine with a four-speed powershift transmission and single lever hydraulic pilot control.
Like its peers across the range, it also boasts a standard load frame, a European-certified ROPS/FOPS cabin with a pillarless wraparound windscreen, air conditioning, heating and a suspension seat.
The larger wheel loaders also come with a hydraulic quick hitch as standard, enabling the wheel loaders to use some of the many attachments that Active manufactures.
Among these are the 2, 3 and 5 cubic metre capacity high tip dump buckets which come as a added extra with the units, able to be lifted to a point where they can dump a load into a high-sided truck.
Active also has other buckets available, including 4-in-1 buckets, sieve buckets and light materials buckets.
This is in addition to its other attachments, which include log grapples, hay forks, 3m/5m stick rakes, rear rippers and auger drive setups for fencing work.
Aside from the attachments, Willis says Active will also go out of its way to help prepare a machine for quarry/mine work, providing UHF radios, fire extinguishers, mirrors, flashing lights and Isolator lockable Estop functions wherever needed.

With the ROPS/FOPS-certified wheel loaders being increasingly used for mining activities, this means the wheel loaders can be delivered ready to meet risk assessment criteria.
Aside from workers at its Dandenong South base, Active Machinery has a team of field service technicians who travel to offer on-site repairs of machinery across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.
Willis says the company has also recently hired a staff member dedicated to work in Queensland and the north of the country, with Active’s machines working at a variety of sites in Far North Queensland.
The field service technicians do everything from on-site repairs to complete overhauls and exchanges of engines, transmissions and hydraulics, and Willis adds that this is not limited to Active’s own machinery.
“A lot of the parts from China are cross-referenced, so that will help a number of customers,” he says, adding that the parts can be useful for customers with Agrison, Victory, UHI and Ace Machinery models.
“As far as spare parts are concerned, everything they need is pretty much here,” he says.
“If we’ve had a run on one or two parts, and we have sold out and we’re waiting for a shipment to come in, obviously we can get things air freighted, so it’s a seven- day turnaround to get it here.”
Willis adds that Active will be heading out to Field Days across Australia throughout the year, with the South East Field Days in South Australia among them.
