The ActivUs Alliance – made up of ACCIONA, CPB Contractors, UGL, SMEC and WSP – has been awarded the design and pre-construction contract for the main works package on the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project.
The alliance will work in partnership with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads and Queensland Rail to deliver more frequent and reliable train services between Brisbane and the Gold Coast and contribute to regional growth by unlocking critical network capacity.
The aim is to improve connectivity in the region and help prepare for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Works include:
- An upgrade from two to four tracks from Kuraby to Beenleigh, including associated civil works
- Accessible station upgrades including park ‘n’ ride, kiss ’n’ ride, and bus stop upgrades
- Removal of level crossings
- Upgraded rail systems and enabling works for European Train Control System
- Modification of the local road network and improved walking and cycling connections along the 20km project corridor
- Integration of the project with adjacent construction packages and into the existing network.
The ActivUs Alliance will now commence the design process and project planning activities and undertake further site investigations.
