Brisbane Mini Excavator Sales has been appointed the sole Australian distributor for China-based manufacturer XGMA, offering a range of five wheel loaders and seven excavators.
BMES General Manager Simon Collins says his team was impressed after touring the huge XGMA factory in the south-eastern Chinese port city of Xiamen in 2010 and purchased some machines to bring back for product-testing under Australian conditions.
“We had wheel loaders, 21-tonne and 8-tonne excavators in work for over three years in Australia with no problems at all,” Collins says. “This was the proof in the pudding that the Chinese machines were now up to speed with the main name brands in the earthmoving industry.”
The machines, he adds, are fitted with Japanese and American technology such as Isuzu and Cummins engines, Kawasaki and Toshiba hydraulics and Nabtesco drive motors, which are all widely used in the earthmoving industry.
“This was the reason why we decided to become the distributor for XGMA here,” Collins says. “It meant we could supply reliable, proven machines to our customers with a full factory warranty at a fraction of the cost of a big-name-brand machine.”
Established in 1951, XGMA Is one of the largest construction machinery factories in China, with an annual production capacity of 40,000 wheel loaders, 20,000 excavators, 10,000 forklifts and 5,000 road machineries. Its range includes wheel loaders, skid steer loaders, excavators, forklifts and road construction machinery such as rollers, graders and dozers. In addition, it produces landfill compactors, concrete mixers, stone and edge cutting machines and soil mixing plants.
XGMA products have been used exclusively for the Chinese Antarctic Expedition since 1992, with a total of 10 loaders, excavators and forklift trucks being used in the construction of National Great Wall Station and Zhongstan Station.
On the excavator side, Australians can buy machines from 8.5 tonnes (XG809E) to 50 tonnes (XG848EL), while the wheel loaders available here are the 6-tonne XG918, 10.8-tonne XG935H, 17.4-tonne XG958H, 20.4-tonne XG962H and the MACKS 227/350 mini-loaders.
The latter feature a rollbar/overhead guard, an ergonomic cabin accessible from both sides and a multi-function control stalk that allows one-handed control of driving direction and kinematics. They also have articulated steering and a low centre of gravity for improved stability.
