Horse arena building company Kamco Arenas has found Case Construction Equipment to be critical to its success
Stewart Kammann, founder and owner of Kamco Arenas, has had a lifetime involvement in the equestrian industry.
Beginning his career as a show jumper and even winning the prestigious Bond Derby in 1982, Kammann made the switch to the earthmoving industry in 1986.
He managed this earthmoving business for a few decades before specialising in the construction of small-scale arenas for horse riding.
Originally based in Busselton, Western Australia, the business expanded to Perth, where Kamco Arenas was born – growing into a premier builder of horse arenas in the region.
Arena building
Kamco Arenas uses two compact track loaders (CTLs) from Case Construction Equipment for its construction and rebuild work.
Utilising the TR340B, and the TV620B – which is the largest CTL on the market according to Case – the machines have been crucial in building up to 22 horse arenas each year.

Kammann notes that the size of TV620B has helped cut down his work time, saving approximately four days of labour on a large arena.
“It’s like a dozer, loader and skid steer – all in one machine,” he says.
Having previously used machinery from other brands for his earthmoving requirements, Kammann has seen a positive difference since switching to Case.
“The Case track machines are brilliant,” he says.
“They’re better for final trim, better on power and have better fuel economy than other-branded machines that I’ve used in the past.”
Although Kammann hadn’t owned a Case machine until 2019 – a TR270 CTL – he was familiar with the brand.
His first interaction with a Case machine dates back to aged 16, assisting his brother with site works and digging trenches with an old-school backhoe.
As a solo operator, he brings his entire fleet to every job using a custom-built trailer that he made himself, to transport his Case machinery to and from the work site.
The latest addition to Kamco Arenas’ machinery fleet is the TV620B CTL, which has an operating weight of 7,620kg, an engine that boasts 114 horsepower (84kW) and a bucket dump height of 2.77m. It also features an 8-inch colour LCD display, giving Kammann total control of the machine.
“It’s so easy to use, you just go to the menu, press a button and you can tailor it to whatever you want to do,” he says.
“You can adjust the flow to the tracks or increase flow through the tilt ram or lift ram. I feel very spoilt with this machine.”
Putting the TV620B to the test, Kammann completed a 70m-by-70m horse arena for the Esperance Equestrian Club on WA’s southern coast.
He credits his Case equipment with enabling him to efficiently and expertly undertake large construction projects with peace of mind.
Ongoing support
Kammann is the first to say he could talk about Case all day long, but one of the primary reasons he continues to choose the brand is his experience with Case dealership McIntosh & Son.
“McIntosh & Son don’t just sell you a machine, they actually follow up,” he says.
“They call to check that everything is going well, and sometimes they even bring you a coffee just to make sure you’re all good.”
If there’s ever any issues with his machinery, Kammann knows that it will be resolved promptly.
“Anything that goes wrong, I call up McIntosh & Son, they ask what the problem is, where I am, and someone comes out straight away,” he says.
“Their main objective is to keep you working, that’s how they operate.”
