Largest and most powerful skid steer and compact track loaders by Cat now available in Australia via leading distributor Hastings Deering.
The line-up includes 4 models, the 272D skid steer, the 299D compact track, and the high-performance counterparts, 272D XHP and 299D XHP.
The machines feature Cat’s electronically powered C3.8 engine which provides higher horsepower and torque while meeting EPA Tier 4 interim (European Stage IIIB) requirements.
Both the 272D and 299D which will be replacing the corresponding models in the C series features 5 per cent more power than their predecessors.
According to CAT, the new loaders feature larger lift cylinders providing a 19 per cent boost in lifting force compared with the C series models.
They also have an electrically activated quick coupler that replaces the hydraulically actuated coupler, allowing a simpler design that eliminates hydraulic lines, connectors and valves.
With the range, Cat has introduced the new Intelligent Levelling (ILEV) system which, according to Cat, enables three industry exclusive features: Electronic dual self-level, work tool return to dig and work tool positioner.
The electronic dual self-level enables load levelling both when raising and lowering, the work tool return to dig feature automatically lowers the lift arms and returns the work tool to a present angle, while the work tool positioner feature automatically returns the work tool to a present angle even after the machine has been repositioned.
The larger frame machines are designed to provide high performance in digging applications but Cat says performance will excel when combined with hydro-mechanical work tools such as cold planers, wheel saws or mulchers.

The two high performance models are also equipped with a 150-Lpm, high flow hydraulic system operating at 28,000kPa (4,061 psi) and producing 71kW (94 hp), enabling it to efficiently handle the largest of hydraulically powered work tools.
Both 272D XHP and 299D XHP models include an air conditioned cab, air-ride seat, Caterpillar’s Advanced Machine Information and Control System (AMICS) and speed-sensitive ride control.
