Cat wheel loaders on target

Caterpillar says the latest upgrades made to its next gen seven-to-nine-tonne wheel loaders will boost efficiency for operators by up to 10 per cent

New upgrades to the Cat 966 Wheel Loader will help boost productivity, the company says

New technologies added to Cat’s 966 and 972 medium wheel loader models, set to be available Down Under in the first quarter of 2022, will help deliver an increase in productivity, the company says.

The company has added its Payload with Assist package as standard, enabling operators to fill the loader bucket to their target weight every time, using real-time data, with a manual tip-off function to improve final bucket adjustments.

Other technologies, such as Cat Autodig, help boost operator productivity by automating bucket loading while the Auto Set Tyres promote proper loading techniques to reduce tyre slip and wear.

Operators can also set their own customised profiles with Cat’s new Application Profile, which sets multiple machine parameters with just one button.

The integrated optional Autolube system helps reduce daily maintenance, while the redesigned loaders also offer convenient access to hydraulic and electric service centres.

These features help extend maintenance intervals, cutting costs by 15 per cent, Cat says.

In cab, sound suppression, seals and viscous mounts make the environment quieter. Optional ride control improves ride quality while traversing rough terrain.

Upgrades to the cab include a new dashboard and high-resolution touchscreen display and a left hand steering joystick as standard. Optional extras include an HMU steering wheel and multiple air suspension seat options for heating or heating and ventilation.

Available for both the 966 and 972 loader series, Cat Performance Series buckets range in size from 2.8 to 14 cubic metres.

Cat’s Fusion QuickCoupler buckets permit rapid tool changes which don’t require the operators to be outside of the cab.
