CEA showcases new SANY offering

CEA used Diesel Dirt & Turf to outline its SANY offering to visitors as the new distribution partnership gets underway

CEA was at this year’s Diesel Dirt & Turf (DDT) in April with an extensive range of SANY machinery, showcasing the wide range of excavators that it is now offering across Queensland, NSW, South Australia and Western Australia, and telehandlers and material handlers offered nationwide.

With CEA having announced the new distributor agreement with SANY at the beginning of the year, DDT allowed the company to provide a wide array of examples of what is now available in Australia, including a range of electric SANY options.

CEA strategic marketing manager Tara Stewart says the event was key to highlight what CEA can offer customers, running from mini excavators through to 90-tonne excavators, plus a range of material handling equipment.

“We’re excited to hit the ground running with our new partnership with SANY and it’s a great opportunity for both our existing customers and new customers in the Australian market,” she says.

“We’ve started bringing in the telehandlers and material handlers, which is a market that we know really well, and we’ve been able to work with the SANY product team to develop a product that is best suited for our market.

“We’re really excited about what that’s going to look like for a whole range of different industries, including rental and construction.”

What sets SANY apart in the market is the build quality and the tech that comes at great price point, with CEA able to offer mini excavators for under $30,000 with buckets and a ripper.

“We understand that the market here is very competitive, so we want to meet that market need and we have these excavators in stock and ready to go, which is great for sole contractors for example,” Stewart says.

Electric focus

Amongst the bright red SANY spread were a selection of blue electric models, including an SY19E being demoed in the sand pit.

Weighing in at 1.95 tonnes, the 10kW mini excavator is a great option for smaller contractors who are working in enclosed spaces or on noise-restricted sites, says SANY Oceania senior dealer manager Matt Apps.

“With the motor only being 85 decibels, these can be used inside schools, inside hospitals, and for government projects that restrict emissions,” Apps says.

“You can take the canopy off, so you can get under carports, and you charge it with a standard three phase power system, so you’re not affected by the current diesel price fluctuations.

“It’ll run 7.6 hours, depending on ambient temperature and what you’re doing with it. You’ve got three charging options, with the quickest being an hour, so you can plug it in during a lunch break.”

Apps also points out the lower maintenance costs required for electric machinery and the lack of oil leak risk.

“All it needs is a hydraulic service and then a battery assessment every 500 hours,” he says.

“The machine’s initial cost is more expensive, but you make up for it tenfold in the long run.”

Also on the stand was the 23.2-tonne SY215E with a 1.1 cubic metre bucket capacity and the 4.3-tonne SY35E with a 0.12 cubic metre bucket capacity.

Stewart says the electric range is a significant opportunity for CEA to offer traditionally more expensive machinery at a great price point for an evolving market.

“The tech and advancements coming out of SANY are unbelievable,” she says.

“They have 3,000 engineers and 45 Lighthouse factories, so a strong future focus, and we’re excited to partner with a brand that has that focus.

“We feel like we’ve met the market well up until now and this is the next step in that evolution for our business. We’re really excited about where that’s headed.”
