CJD Equipment puts Volvo CE L120 electric wheel loader on show

CJD Equipment has an exciting lineup of electric and diesel machinery at the Heavy Equipment & Machinery Show, including the brand new Volvo CE L120 electric wheel loader

The Heavy Equipment & Machinery Show is the perfect place to check out exciting new machinery and technology, and this year is no different with CJD Equipment showcasing a fantastic lineup of Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) diesel and electric machinery on its stand.

Star of the show is the new 20-tonne Volvo CE L120 electric loader, which brings a more sustainable option to worksites. With a 282kWh battery the L120 can lift six tonnes, has a run time of five to nine hours depending on the application, and has a top speed of 40km/h.

“The new L120 electric is designed for productivity, efficiency and sustainability,” CJD Equipment product manager – electric and sustainable technologies Reid Gibson says.

“The machine can support a complete workday with fast charging capabilities and matches the powerful performance of its diesel counterpart. It’s very versatile and will benefit a range of applications, such as construction, quarries, waste and recycling, agriculture, forestry and mining.

“Applications that benefit from zero-emissions or reduced noise levels will especially realise benefits, such as indoor sites or work needing to be done outside of standard hours.”

Volvo CE adds that having a fully electric driveline reduces maintenance time and costs by 30 per cent and the machine can recoup up to 15 per cent of the battery energy through regenerative braking. Other features include on-board weighing and auto bucket leveling functions.

Also at the show are Volvo CE’s 2.6-tonne ECR25 compact excavator and five-tonne L25 electric wheel loader.

“We are excited to display our compact electric machines at the event,” Gibson says.

“They have been well received and showcase how compact electric machines are already making an impact on job sites.

“With the ECR25 operators are impressed by the low noise levels, zero emissions and performance. We’re seeing primary use in utility work and indoor applications where fume extraction systems are typically required.”

The L25 wheel loader comes with a 1.2 cubic metre bucket as standard and employs a dual electric motor concept for optimised energy efficiency. One motor runs the hydraulics and steering, while the second is dedicated to the driveline.

“The L25 is gaining traction in urban and indoor applications,” Gibson says.

“Users are particularly happy with the low operational costs, zero emissions and durable runtime. It’s proving that electric can deliver in a range of environments.”

A greener future

Gibson says this collection of electric machinery showcases the growing interest in alternative power amongst construction businesses and the benefits it can bring, “especially from contractors focused on sustainability targets, urban projects and applications where zero emissions and low noise levels are desirable”.

“It’s clear the electric is becoming a real part of the future fleet mix,” he adds.

In addition to the electric offering, CJD Equipment will also be showcasing a selection of its latest diesel machinery as well as digital tools and software solutions that are designed to streamline fleet management and boost productivity.

“The Heavy Equipment & Machinery Show provides us with a great platform for us to connect with industry professionals, showcase the latest in our product lineup – including some new electric machines – and have some great face-to-face conversations,” Gibson says.

“We’re looking forward to speaking with customers and the wider industry about current trends, challenges, and how we can support both existing and emerging solutions.

“Our stand will highlight the versatility of our product range, with proven diesel models, accompanied by new electric counterparts. It showcases that we’re ready to support a range of job site requirements, both today and into the future.”
