Construction of new Dromana Pier underway

Works are underway to build a new pier on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula

Construction company Duratec Limited has commenced works on the upgrades to Victoria’s Dromana Pier on the Mornington Peninsula.

The project will deliver improved access to the water for swimming with new stairs, as well as a solid timber decking and terrace area to provide the chance to view Dromana foreshore, Port Phillip Bay and Arthurs Seat.

Community consultation shaped the design of the new upgrades and will service the local community for years to come, opening in time for summer next year.

“Rebuilding Dromana Pier will ensure the local community and visitors have improved access to a popular space for fishing, walking, boating and swimming,” Victorian ports minister Melissa Horne says.

“This upgrade will mean the pier will be enjoyed well into the future and will bring even more tourism into this beautiful seaside suburb.”

While this project is underway, the neighbouring George Bishop Reserve carpark will close, with parking available at the Dromana Foreshore Reserve or along Point Nepean Road.

The foreshore and beach area adjoining the construction site will be fenced off so equipment and materials can be safely moved between the compound and the construction site while works are underway.
