Victoria’s new stage 3 coronavirus restrictions do not apply to the building sector and plumbing services, according to the Victorian Building Authority (VBA).

The new restrictions came into effect at 12:59PM Monday 30 March and will remain in place for at least four weeks. Gatherings are now restricted to no more than 2 people except for members of your immediate household and for work or education.
The VBA says that although the construction industry is exempt, the Victorian Chief Health Officer’s directions must be followed to ensure the reduction of the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
The Victorian Government has released guidance on best practice for managing construction sites during the pandemic, recommending all workers stay 1.5m apart where possible and sharing of tools kept to a minimum.
The state government also stated that if it needs to suspend or shut down government-funded construction projects due to public health concerns relating to coronavirus, it will make reasonable attempts to give advance notice of those decisions to relevant employers and employment unions.
No government site will be partially or fully closed without direction by or advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer.
