Butler Grazing operates two Hercules H1250 wheel loaders on its site

Butler Grazing, a private cattle grazing business, recently purchased a pair of Hercules H1250 loaders to further help with everyday demands, and the machines are already being put through their paces on site.
Based across two properties in Glenmorgan and Goondiwindi in Queensland’s Darling Downs, Butler Grazing is now in its second generation after Michael Butler took over the business from his father, and his children are now also involved.
“I now have two sons on the properties and we’re all running the business between us, so I guess they’ll be the third generation,” Butler says.
“My wife and daughter are also involved. We’re just carrying on the business and continue to grow it.”
Butler says the two H1250 loaders – the biggest machines in BME’s Hercules line-up – have already been hard at work since the purchase was finalised, operating across a variety of earthmoving and agricultural demands.
It has been the versatility of the loaders that has been the biggest standout feature to date as the H1250s have been busy at work undertaking a variety of tasks.
“It’s just general work around the property,” Butler explains.
“We use them for loading hay – we cut hay recently and we’ve been using the loaders to load two big round bales with the forks because they have quick and good lifting capacity.
“The loaders have done everything we wanted them to do. When we buy our cattle troughs, which weigh over two tonnes now, we use the loaders to move and place them around the property, as well as performing patch-up earthmoving jobs to help stop erosion around the place.”

Value for money
Hercules’ H1250 machine is powered by a Cummins engine, which pro-duces as much as 180 horsepower (134kW) and boasts a load capacity of four tonnes – both metrics that have become standout features for Butler.
The machines also boast an extra-large rollover protection system cabin and the four-in-one bucket, which is activated by a hydraulic control button inside the cab, makes completing a plethora of jobs effortless.
Given the Hercules-branded machines weigh in as a cost-effective alternative compared to other brands of wheel loaders currently on the market, Butler says the horsepower and hydraulic capabilities for the price was simply too good to ignore.
“The price was definitely a standout feature, especially for the horsepower provided,” he says.
“Their lifting hydraulic system also really attracted us to the machines. All I could say is, the price for the horsepower and lifting capacities is great.
“We’ve had no problem with them, and they’ve stood up to the farming and earthmoving work that we’ve been giving them.”
Purchasing the machines was also made easier given the support and helpfulness offered by the team at BME.
The Yatala-based company is the Australian dealer for Hercules loaders, in addition to offering a range of mini and small Sunward excavators and skid steers.
Butler says the process of buying the new wheel loaders was easy.
“I was dealing with Steve Ragenovich, and he was excellent. He really went out of his way to help us,” Butler says.
“I like dealing with good people and he was fantastic to deal with throughout the process. I just think Steve was a real standout person to deal with.”
The addition of the H1250 machines to the fleet at Butler Grazing couldn’t have come at a better time either, given the prosperity of Australia cattle sector at present.
While may sectors have been impacted or haven’t fully recovered since the COVID-19 pandemic, the country’s cattle industry has flourished, Butler says.
“The cattle industry has been a bit of standout industry during COVID, and everything is favouring the rural industries at the moment,” he says.
“Cattle prices are at their highest and interest rates have been at their lowest, so it’s been a good place to be. It’s the best it’s ever been.”
