Doosan releases DX85R-7 mini excavator

Doosan has unveiled its new next-gen mini-excavator to the European market, called the DX85R-7

The DX85R-7 features a reduced tail swing (RTS) design and a different boom swing cylinder layout of 60-degrees, making the small machine ideal for working in confined spaces.

Doosan says the excavator was designed to optimise stability, performance and controllability and has an improved upper structure that increases the robustness of the machine.

The DX85R-7 is powered by the Doosan D24 Stage V compliant diesel engine, which provides up to 48.5kW (65hp) to the operator at 2,100rpm. The new Stage V compliant D24 engine also means the excavator is fuel efficient – Doosan says among the best in its class.

Compared to the previous DX85R-3 model, the new DX85R-7 version is nine per cent more fuel efficient thanks to the high-power output and high torque at low rpm.

The bucket on the excavator produces a digging force of 6.7 tonnes, which is combined with a traction of force of 6.6 tonnes. The machine can reach speeds of up to 3.9km/h in low range and as much as 4.8km/h in high range.

Visually, the DX85R-7 shares the same styling as all new mini-excavators from Doosan from the two to 10-tonne range, with a taller 2.6m cab also resulting in improvements to operator comfort.

Inside the cab, the heating and air-condition system has been enhance further with more nozzles to control air flow, as well as other key features such as an eight-inch (20cm) touchscreen display, air suspension seat with heating, foldable pedals and thumbwheel joystick.

Under the hood, a new main control valve improves performance by reducing internal pressure losses, which cuts energy wastage and pressure losses by over 40 per cent.

The boom footprint has been moved forward 100mm and upwards by 50mm to increase the working range of the excavator.
