The construction of a Brisbane retail store has thrown up major challenges, but Earth Gear’s tailored equipment package ensured the project ran smoothly
Civil dry hire specialist Earth Gear has proudly supplied a variety of machinery and equipment to support the construction of a new Anaconda store at Brendale, Queensland, which is set to become the largest of the company’s stores in the Southern Hemisphere.
With a large-scale commercial footprint and challenging site conditions, this project required high-performance machinery capable of handling bulk earthworks, demolition, and site preparation safely, quickly, and efficiently.
Two major challenges were presented – bulk earthworks and demolition of existing infrastructure.
The first challenge of the Anaconda Brendale site involved digging and moving large volumes of earth across steep terrain.
The client needed equipment that could handle the incline without compromising speed or safety. Timeframes were tight, and site access was limited in certain areas, making mobility, reliability, and efficiency critical.
The second challenge involved breaking up and removing old footpaths and culverts no longer needed in the new site layout. This required precision, the right attachments, and machines with the grunt to get through solid concrete and reinforced structures safely and cleanly.
Earth Gear delivered a tailored equipment package to meet the demands of the high-pressure site, including Hydrema site dumpers, Earth Gear excavators, rock breakers and 5-finger hydraulic grabs.

Brought in to tackle the steep terrain, the Hydrema site dumpers are known for their power, speed, fuel efficiency, and off-road performance. Earth Gear says these dumpers kept earthmoving productivity high without the risk of getting bogged down or tipping over.
All Earth Gear excavators are low-hour and fully civil spec machines, ensuring safe and reliable performance across the site.
For the demolition scope, Earth Gear’s supplied rock breakers and 5-finger hydraulic grabs attachments enabled the excavators to safely and efficiently break down and remove concrete footpaths and culverts as required, without delays or incident.
The combination of modern, fit-for-purpose equipment and Earth Gear’s responsive service ensured the project ran smoothly from start to finish.
All equipment was supplied by Earth Gear with zero breakdowns across both scopes of work to ensure an on-time project delivery.
Earth Gear proved to be the one-stop solution for civil equipment dry hire, delivering the gear, reliability, and support that civil contractors across Southeast Queensland and Northern New South Wales count on.
