Equipped Civil & Earthmoving digging deep for RFDS

The team at Toowoomba-based Equipped Civil & Earthmoving have set themselves a lofty fundraising target, for a worthy cause

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is an essential service for many Australians, and for Equipped Civil & Earthmoving director Greg Brennan, it’s personal.

“My wife’s parents – they are out at Morven near Charleville – and they have had to use the service three times in the last six years,” he says.

“So it is something that we are trying to give back to, to keep them in the air for those people out in those remote areas that need the service.”

Working in civil construction across south east Queensland, the team at Equipped Civil & Earthmoving not only conduct earthworks but also hire out plant in Toowoomba and the Darling Downs.

Part of its extensive product line-up is a Case TR270B Pozzi track loader, which only arrived in May, from dealers Earthmoving Equipment Australia (EEA).

As a way to raise funds for the Queensland division of the RFDS, Equipped has committed to donating $5 for every hour the track loader works to the charity over the estimated four years the company retains the track loader.

“Also, what we are doing is going around to businesses and asking for donations for the RFDS and then get a nice cheque together and then hand that over to the RFDS as well,” says Brennan.

Estimating that the track loader will conduct an average of 1,000 hours per year, Brennan says he has a target of $40,000 by the end of this year – with the potential to carry out a similar process once the track loader moves on.

EEA Toowoomba branch manager Joe Plater arranged to have the track loader painted in the appropriate RFDS colours and stickers – just before it was first displayed at the Civil Construction Field Days in May.

“We probably had some sleepless nights in getting it all sorted, meeting deadlines and making sure the end product is going to be what it is, but we’re super excited about it. It has come up an absolute treat and we have had really good feedback on it as well,” he says.

The machine will also be displayed at Toowoomba field day FarmFest, and will also be used for wider work across the region.
