Event: Northern Territory Resources Week

Northern Territory Resources Week is almost upon us, with the mining expo hitting the Darwin Convention Centre on 14-15 September.

Held each year, the event sees the South East Asia Australia Offshore & Onshore Conference (SEAAOC) run alongside the Mining the Territory and Building the Territory conferences. These conferences bring together professionals from the petroleum, mining, exploration, engineering, construction and gas industries to discuss the latest developments across northern Australia and South East Asia.

The SEAAOC is northern Australia’s largest petroleum conference. This year’s conference will feature a number of keynote speakers including ACCC chairman Rod Sims, the Northern Territory’s chief minister and the federal minister for resources and energy. The speakers will be covering a range of topics including the latest in oil and gas exploration projects and the changing regulatory environment for the sector.

Mining the Territory is a mining-specific conference focused on northern Australia and south-east Asia. Technological advancements in mining and investment opportunities are among the themes being discussed at the event, and there are presentations from key industry players such as Geoscience Australia, Korab Resources, ABM Resources and Emmerson Resources.

The final piece of Northern Territory Resources Week is the Building the Territory conference, an event focused on the NT’s construction and infrastructure sections. On the back of major gas and mining investment in the region, the NT has experienced record growth which is driving commercial and residential construction as well as major road upgrade and infrastructure projects. Topics of discussion at this forum include strategic land use and the federal government’s commitment to defence infrastructure spending in the region.

In addition to the three simultaneous conferences, there will be a number of networking and social events during the week, including a welcome reception on day one at Darwin’s Parliament House and an end-of-expo cruise around Darwin’s harbour.
