Event: Australian Tunnelling Conference 2016

The Australian Tunnelling Conference is set to return to Sydney’s SMC Conference and Function Centre on 11 and 12 October 2016.

Supported by the Australasian Tunnelling Society, the conference brings together civil contractors, engineers, safety inspectors and other industry experts to share the latest developments in tunnelling projects, design, construction, safety and maintenance.

Construction and maintenance of tunnels is an integral part of many mining, construction and infrastructure projects.

There’s a full two-day program of speakers from major tunnelling project leaders, government, contractors and machinery manufacturers. Topics included in the 2016 agenda include current and future project updates, geotechnical modelling, underground space planning, new tunnelling techniques, environmental challenges and tunnel repair.

There’s also an exhibition hall with tunnelling product displays and case studies demonstrating best practice use of tunnelling technology, including detailed examinations of Australian tunnelling projects such as Sydney’s WestConnex and the Melbourne Metro project. The agenda also looks at international projects such as Toronto’s Eglinton crosstown rail project and Singapore’s Thomson rail line project.
