The 2019 Brisbane Truck Show is up and running. Tickets are now on sale for next year’s event and there’s more reason than ever to start making plans to be there.

It’s no surprise that the exhibition halls will be jam packed with all the latest and best trucks, trailers, components, equipment and technology. We’ve come to expect that.

In record time every nook and cranny has been contracted to exhibitors wanting to put their best foot forward at the southern hemisphere’s largest automotive showcase. In fact, if you want to go for superlatives, try: the southern hemisphere’s largest business event.

The 2019 show is the fifth at Brisbane’s world-class Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. The venue’s footprint grew substantially with the addition of the Grey Street precinct in 2012. Thank goodness – without it the building’s walls would have burst open.

Everybody loves the warmth and familiarity of the event; you know where things are, how long you need to get around and who is going to be there. That doesn’t mean you don’t want to see some new innovations and features. Well, the 2019 show delivers in spades.

Last month we announced the addition of the NatRoad Conference on the eve of the truck show. The conference program will provide insightful content combined with great networking opportunities and is always a must on leading operators calendars.

Putting the two events together is so logical it’s hard to grasp why it hasn’t been done before.

Add to that a plethora of events, activities and activations held by the major truck manufacturers and other major exhibitors. There will be free seminars, forums and displays in rooms around the venue across the four days of the show.

On top of that there will be new truck launches, competitions, amazingly innovative trailers and technology, on-site appearances by well-known stars of sport, music, tv and most importantly from our own industry.

The thing is, you’re going to have to keep paying attention to see it unfold. There are going to be announcements made with increasing regularity as the show gets closer, but let me say this – you won’t be disappointed.

The Brisbane Truck Show is a vital Queensland business, tourism and cultural asset, recognised internationally amongst the world’s leading industry business events.

The event is owned and run by national industry association, Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA), who have produced the event, on behalf of its members and the broader industry, for over fifty years.

The show has a rich history since it was launched at Haulmark Trailers in Rocklea, in 1968 before moving to the Rocklea Wool Stores through the 1970s.

Prior to settling at the Brisbane convention & Exhibition Centre, many fondly remember the show at the RNA showgrounds – the home of the EKKA, as locals know it.

Australia’s thriving and robust heavy vehicle industry comprises hundreds of innovative trailer, specialised vehicle, component, equipment and technology manufacturers and suppliers in addition to the product assembly of global heavy vehicle brands such as Volvo, Mack, Iveco, Kenworth and now DAF.

Australia is a world leader in many aspects of heavy vehicle transport. Australia’s heavy vehicle industry directly employs over 36,000 people and manufactures, services and repairs some of the world’s most efficient, safe, innovative and technologically advanced vehicles.

Aside from showcasing the heavy vehicle industry, the biennial Brisbane Truck Show also plays an important role supporting the Queensland economy.

Over four days, the 2017 Brisbane Truck Show attracted 33,754 visitors, 63% of its visitors from outside of Brisbane, whilst 28% transited from interstate and 11.6% were from overseas including senior executives and CEOs of Commercial Vehicle manufacturers internationally.

With the assistance of the Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council the 2019 event will build on its traditional strengths as a business tourism event; expanding to encompass a full week of industry and community events.

A full week of events and activations around Brisbane, will complement those already held by Brisbane Truck Show exhibitors and show partners, all captured under the umbrella of Australian Heavy Vehicle Industry Week.

It is being built around principal themes including: safety, innovation, sustainability, careers, knowledge and community. What that means in practice is a valued packed experience for visitors – whether it is insights that help improve business processes, better understanding of our industry and its role in the community, or inspiration to pursue a career in our dynamic industry.

Events and content will focus attention on all users of heavy vehicles, extending far beyond the freight industry, to take in building and construction, agriculture, retail, utility services, local government, emergency services, mining and more.

The Brisbane Truck Show returns to the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre from Thursday 16 to Sunday 19 May 2019. Go to for more information.
