FAE mulchers head Down Under

FAE’s new mulcher attachments for excavators can handle logs of up to 30cm in diameter

Forestry attachments company FAE has added to its lineup of mulcher attachments for excavators, with its new BL4/EX/VT model attachments set to arrive here in July.

FAE says the new model is perfect for tackling and removing vegetation in wooded areas, especially for jobs that require a large shredding capacity and speed.

Compatible with 18–25 tonne excavators and available in working widths of 135cm and 160cm, the BL4/EX/VT can mulch logs up to 30cm in diameter, using its rotor with Bite Limiter technology.

The Bite Limiter consists of steel limiter rings that limit the reach, or bite, of the mulcher’s teeth, reducing the amount of power needed and guaranteeing a constant working speed and excellent performance.

The heat-treated forged-steel BL blades are made to last and can be sharpened to keep operating costs lower, says FAE.

On top of this, the BL4/EX/VT has a 110/60cc variable torque (VT) hydraulic piston motor that FAE says offers noticeably better performance, increased torque when needed and minimal risk of rotor stalling.

The sturdy steel frame is built to last and the Poly Chain belt drive transmission guarantees optimal power transfer and reliability, it adds.

The BL4/EX/VT can include the optional Sonic system, which keeps the operating machine and the FAE mulcher aligned by automatically calibrating and constantly regulating the mulcher’s hydraulic parameters, resulting in what FAE says is a significant increase in productivity.
