Adam Kimball stands alongside his team and new Sumitomo SH130-6 machines.

The family-run business was set up by Adam and Sharon Kimball about 14 years ago and works extensively on residential and civil projects in the Melbourne and Geelong areas for Bayswater’s Earthlift Excavations.

The two SH130-6s bring Dirt Shift’s fleet of excavators to seven — six Sumitomos and one Yanmar Vio55-5. The supplied units have been fitted with dozer blades and 2.5m arms for a digging depth of 5.54m, dump height of 6.4m and a digging radius of 8.3m.

The SH130-6 has a 260-litre fuel tank, a travel speed of 5.6 km/h and 500mm grouser shoes bringing the transport weight to 13.4 tonnes.  It comes standard with a ROPS Cabin, pressurised climate control air conditioning, 7-inch colour LCD monitor, rear view camera, and three years’ free satnav remote monitoring via Sumitomo’s G@NAV system.  The unit is powered by a 74.9 kW Isuzu Interim Tier 4 Diesel which is paired with a ‘Space5+’ engine system and ‘SIH:S+’ hydraulic system for a reduction in fuel consumption.

He excavator has three work modes available to cover a wide range of applications and the units have double acting auxiliary hydraulics, and a bucket digging force of 85 kN with Auto Power up. The boom and dipper arm have been further strengthened for durability and the Sumitomo EMS Bucket Maintenance System extends the bucket greasing interval to 250 hours.

"The Sumitomo SH130-6 is a great fit for the majority of our applications where we require speed and precision and these machines deliver in both categories," Adam Kimball says. " We previously owned four of the SH130-5 models and found them to be extremely reliable and couldn’t go past them for performance as well as great fuel efficiency and increased productivity. The figures so far for the new DASH 6 Sumitomo units are even better."
