Product focus: Robson’s JCB 3CX backhoe loader
With civil construction booming in NSW, one contractor has taken on a new JCB 3CX backhoe loader rather than sub-contracting the work.
Robson Civil Projects has been operating for over 50 years with three generations of family running and working within the business, covering projects that range from civil construction, road works, and mine development to rehabilitation, rail and more.
Robson Civil says its new 3CX backhoe loader offers a high level of flexibility in the types of projects they can take on.
"Previously we would use sub-contractors but with NSW construction projects on the rise we decided it was time to buy our own backhoe so we can be ready for new work," Robson asset manager Stuart Garland says.
"We hadn’t owned a backhoe previously but with business continuing to increase we started talking with JCB in December last year.
"We were looking at four different backhoes but the 3CX is what stood out the most. Visibility was a major deciding feature for us."
"The health and safety of our operators is a key factor and the 3CX was able to tick all of the boxes and deliver with high performance, too. It’s the best fit for the job," Garland adds.
The JCB 3CX is powered by a 68.6kW JCB diesel engine and has a maximum backhoe dig depth of 5.97 metres. The machine’s loader function can deliver a breakout force of around 64kN and can lift just over three tonnes to a height of 2.34 metres.
Robson Civil says acquiring the 3CX was the right idea, and may even add more to its fleet in the future.
"The 3CX is excellent value for money," Garland says. "Between this machine and three or four sub-contractors on the go we’re in a good position, but with the current market we may look to add another backhoe in the near future."
