Equipment focus: Cat 326F excavators

Eire Constructions has experienced a boom in recent years and the company credits its fleet of Cat machines and support from Cat dealer WesTrac as a big part of that success.

Eire Constructions is a civil construction company based on the NSW Mid North Coast and has been in operation for more than 40 years. The group specialises in road and utility construction, subdivisions and land development as well as the installation of water, sewer and drainage infrastructure.

“In recent years we have expanded our services more into subdivisions and land development which has seen huge growth for the company and our fleet,” Eire Constructions operations manager Tadhg Kelliher says.

Eire has around 40 machines in its fleet, including three Cat 326F excavators from WestTrac. When it came time to add more excavators to the fleet, Eire wasn’t sure if it was going to stick with Cat.

“With any purchase we look for the most cost effective solution,” Kelliher says.

“Initially, we didn’t think that would be Cat excavator – but after working through the options we saw that the new Cat Tier 4 engine along with a Fuel Edge Program from WesTrac we’d really have a chance to get ahead of the game.”

The Fuel Edge Program provides customers who purchase a qualifying Tier 4 Cat machine from WesTrac with a parts credit if they use more than their committed fuel consumption threshold. The program acts as a guarantee on Cat’s fuel efficiency.

Over and above that, Eire Constructions says it was the service and support on offer from WesTrac that proved the deciding factor.
