The Gladesville Bowling and Sports Club was looking to replace an existing staircase with an elevator to improve access for patrons. Initial work involved the demolition of the existing staircase and excavation work on the new lift shaft.

The majority of the work was to be performed indoors, and the club’s bar fittings and carpet needed to be protected.

KangEx had recently acquired a Takeuchi TB210R mini excavator which is designed for tight access jobs. The 1.1-tonne TB210R is powered by an 8.7kW US Tier 4 Final/EU Stage IV engine and has been fitted with a catalytic converter that eliminates 90 percent of carbon monoxide emissions, enabling it work indoors.

"There is no other excavator in the same class as this one. It’s the only machine that will get into the places needed by our tight access projects," KangEx’s Stefan Millar says.

"The TB210R can do the work of a 1.7 tonne machine, with the added benefit of adjustable tracks which retract to 750mm, as well as excellent power, full-function joystick controls, great digging depth and the ability to run a range of attachments," Millar adds.

The TB210R is constructed with all-steel fabricated body parts intended for constant heavy-duty use. When loaded on to a trailer with a set of buckets and a hitch, the gross weight of the TB210R is approximately 1.3 tonnes, meaning it can be towed by a ute or family sedan without special electronic braking.
