Case study: Loadex Hire and its Toyota Huski 5SDK8 skid steer loader

Perth equipment hire group Loadex Hire has commissioned its first Toyota Huski skid-steer loader.

Loadex Hire’s new skid steer is a Toyota Huski 5SDK-8, with a 650kg lifting capacity and general purpose bucket.

The Huski is powered by a 2.5-litre Toyota 1DZ diesel engine delivering 39kW, and has a dumping height of 2190mm at a 45 degree dump angle and 275mm of ground clearance.

Loadex Hire says the switch in brands was prompted by a local client whose operator had been using Toyota Huski’s for the last 20 years.

“The client had a Toyota Huski with very high hours, but did not want to make any new financial commitments, so for three years they hired machines in from other companies,” Loadex business development manager Craig Warnes says.

“With a new job coming up, I offered to purchase the Huski to suit the client and they jumped at the notion. In addition, they had a very happy operator as he was back into a machine he’s comfortable in.”

So far, Loadex and the client say the Huski has performed above expectations, with the skid steer’s enclosed and pressurised air-conditioned cabin being particularly useful in Western Australia’s demanding heat.

“As a former operator of Huski skid steers, I was very happy to see, after all these years, Toyota still maintains a very high-quality machine,” Warnes says.
