The first new model of Kobelco’s latest addition to its Generation 10 excavator lineup, the SK260LC-10, has been delivered to Coleman Drainage on the Sunshine Coast, continuing a relationship between the two companies spanning more than 30 years.
Mike Coleman founded Coleman Drainage with his brother Steve and their friend John O’Toole. The majority of their work is large-scale trenching, infrastructure and subdivision work.
The trio have always used Kobelco machines in their fleet, and see no reason to change now.
“We’ve been following Kobelco since they first arrived in the country and we bought our first Kobelco 907; they’ve always worked well for us,” Coleman says.
“We recognised the effort and attention-to-detail that has gone into the new Generation 10 machines. Each year we replace one machine, so when it came time for this year’s update it was an easy decision.”

The Kobelco SK260LC-10 excavator is powered by a Tier 3 Hino engine and has an operating weight of 26 tonnes.
The excavator’s digging arm features an ‘arm interflow system’ which reduces power consumption by harnessing the downward force generated by the boom’s weight and redirecting it to push fluid to the shovel arm. A one-cubic-metre bucket completes the excavators digging setup.
“The nature of the jobs we do means we’re paid by the bucket rather than by the hour so the power and efficiency of the Kobelco SK260LC-10 fits the bill for us,” Coleman says.
“It means we can get more work done in a shorter amount of time and move onto the next job making us more profitable.”
