Free trade breakfast in Warrnambool

Get ahead of the upcoming safety inspection blitz – and a free bacon sanga – at a trade breakfast in Warrnambool

In preparation for the Build Aware initiative, a variety of safety inspectors are offering individuals in the industry a free trade breakfast to get workplace ready ahead of an upcoming inspection blitz in Warrnambool.

The trade breakfast and safety talk will place Tuesday 5 September 2023, from 7.30am to 9am at the Pontings Mitre 10, 112 Kepler St, Warrnambool.

A discussion on construction-related hazards impacting the building industry in and around Warrnambool will take place, with representatives from Energy Safe Victoria, Environment Protection Authority Victoria, Victorian Building Authority and WorkSafe Victoria on site.

This event is a chance to hear directly from a team of Inspectors, ask questions about your rights, responsibilities or employer obligations at work and make sure you are aware of any required changes to help keep yourself and your team safe on the job.

Topics at the breakfast and during inspections will include:

  • risks associated with exposure to crystalline silica dust in common construction tasks (outside of engineered stone), bushfire assessment levels, fire rating and waterproofing
  • roofing and gas fitting compliance
  • General Environmental Duty (GED) and environmental laws that apply to the construction industry
  • obligations working near overhead powerlines and underground energy assets (for individuals and companies).

It’s a great opportunity to understand rights, responsibilities and employer obligations as well as get a free feed!
