Genie brings improved telehandler to US market

The new Genie GTH-1256 telehandler boasts a longer reach and with a higher capacity and more torque, for increased productivity

The GTH-1256 will make its official debut in February at the American Rental Association Show in Orlando, Florida

Built upon the existing design used on the Genie 6K, 8K and 10K telehandler models, the new GTH-1256 5,445kg-capacity machine is meant to lower the cost of ownership while improved productivity on the jobsite.

The telehandler is powered by a side-mounted 120hp (89.5kW) Deutz engine and four-speed powershift transmission, which is 15 per cent more fuel efficient in power transfer activities such as picking and placing.

A new load chart means the GTH-1256 features a maximum lift height of 17.15m while still lifting 2.7 tonnes, and 1.58 tonnes at a maximum outreach of 12.8m.

Improvements have also been made to the machine’s torque, which has been increased through new limited slip differentials on both axles and full-time four-wheel-drive. A wide centre bars also delivers better wear on hard surfaces without becoming clogged.

Inside the cab, enhanced visibility of all four tires is among the improvements made to the re-designed interior, as well as a 7-inch (17.8cm) display, reverse camera, rear proximity alarm and full air-conditioning system.

“This is a high-capacity telehandler designed, built and extensively tested for the realities of heavy-duty jobs,” says Genie senior product manager Amalija Kopac.

“When we were designing and testing this machine, we prioritised durability and reliability, along with a reduced total cost of ownership and productivity, ensuring our 12K telehandler will deliver the performance and longevity needed by equipment operators and owners – now, and well into the future.

“This is the next step as Genie develops and expands our telehandler family, and we’re excited to introduce the new GTH-1256.”
