Husqvarna LP9505 trench roller shown to customers

Husqvarna’s new LP9505 trench roller operates remotely and comes equipped with automatic hydraulic brakes and closed drums.

Husqvarna Construction Australia has showcased its LP9505 trench roller at mini demonstration days for customers in Melbourne.

Husqvarna Construction Australia’s business manager for compaction and concrete placement, Mark Anderson, says the company’s aim of providing strong customer service had led to the LP9505 being used for these demonstrations.

“As part of our strategy we needed a dedicated service network across Australia and New Zealand. We now have that,” he says.

“We have a willingness to do hands-on training. As a manufacturer, we support our sales and service partners by doing exactly what we’re doing in Melbourne.”

The LP9505 has spent about 18 months in Australia, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic many potential customers had not seen it with Husqvarna’s orange livery.

Its standout features, Anderson says, include automatic hydraulic brakes, good pad height to assist with traction, radio control communication and closed drums to prevent foreign material from getting into the drums.

The LP9505 has an on-board battery charger for the remote control, meaning the battery can be charged while the machine is running.

This allows the user to simply swap the batteries over when the remote control loses charge, removing any downtime or potential for an external charger to be misplaced.

Anderson says the remote control provides users with plenty of information to assist them while using the trench roller.

“There’s a whole range of data you can get off it,” he says.

“The remote itself will tell you everything that’s going on with the machine from diagnostics, service intervals, fuel levels and whether you’re too close to the machine.

“The machine will not operate if the remote is within a 2m radius of the machine, which is a key safety feature.

“In terms of the technology that’s in this one and the diagnostics in it, it’s very much 2020 and 2021, compared to the older remotes, which told you very minimal information.”

An overall weight of 1,680kg, ability to move at 2.7km/h, 30L fuel tank and 18kW (24 horsepower) engine are among the LP9505’s other specifications.
