Hyundai opens new facility in Perth

Hyundai Construction Equipment has set up a new facility in Perth, Western Australia following the exit of the company’s WA dealership, Earthwest, from the industry.

The new facility is located at 174 Kewdale Road, Kewdale.

Hyundai CE ‘s Regional Sales Manager for Western Australia, Southern Australia and Northern Territory, David Evans says Western Australia is currently leading the market in its sales of Hyundai CE wheel loaders and excavators.

“Last year, 20 per cent of all wheel loaders delivered nationally were sold to Western Australia based operators, while one in five excavators were delivered across the state,” he says.

“We know that operators consider our range to be competitively priced, fuel efficient and boast the latest technology so we’re anticipating sales to increase further in the next two to three years as more and more projects get the green light.”

Evans says Earthwest’s departure provided the perfect opportunity for Hyundai CE to set up a company-owned dealership and invest significantly in creating an exceptional level of service for its customers in the region.

“We have already created new positions for both sales and service staff and we are planning a number of exciting announcements in the months ahead,” he says.

Larger sales force, spare parts stock and mobile technician fleet

“The new refurbished facility will stock five times the amount of spare parts sold by the former dealership, minimising unnecessary downtime for our customers,” Evans says.

“On the off-chance that we don’t have a part in stock, our overnight service will ensure delivery within 24 hours.”

For operators in rural and remote regions, a fleet of three mobile service technicians will provide ongoing service and support. Hyundai CE says the fleet is expected to grow in the next few years with a team of sub-contractors on hand if required.

“We’ve employed three more highly experienced technicians to ensure fast service,” Evans says.

“The new servicing department is equipped with an overhead crane, which is a real time saver, particularly when it comes to removing engines from large loaders.”

The sales force has also grown from a team of two to five with a sales manager, three territory managers servicing the mining division and for the first time, a dedicated mini-utility territory manager.

“The small excavator market is growing fast, with a boom in housing following on from the strong employment opportunities in Western Australia,” Evans says.

“We’ve seen strong demand for the full range of excavators from our 8 tonne 80CR-9 model to the 5.5 tonne 55-9 model and this demand should increase further now that we’ve employed a dedicated person to service this market.”
