Hitachi Construction machienry site Armadale HCA's proposed site for the construction of its new facility

Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia (HCA) has announced plans to construct a new state-of-the-art facility in Armadale, Perth as part of its national expansion plan.

The facility will further expand the company’s support capabilities with assembly sites, workshops and parts centre currently included on the blueprint.

The land at Forrestdale West Business Park, purchased by HCA in June 2013, is a Greenfield site strategically located adjacent to Tonkin Highway and conveniently accessible from surrounding major industrial areas including Perth Airport, Fremantle Port and Kwinana.

According to HCA, the land covers approximately 100,000sqm with an estimated total project expenditure of $100 million upon completion.

HCA Managing Director David Harvey says the facility is a strategic investment in the company’s future.

"It aims to strengthen our ability to deliver the highest level of support to our customers in the Western Australian market as well as further afield," he says.

HCA says the new facility will feature a series of specialised buildings incorporating the latest in innovative and environmentally-conscious technologies, similar to those adopted within HCA’s recently constructed Brisbane facility in Wacol, Queensland.

Buildings at the new site will include:

  • Mining assembly facility for both mining trucks and mining excavators
  • Remanufacturing workshop
  • Specialised paint booth, wash bay area, caustic wash an soda blast station
  • Parts distribution centre
  • Branch building including a comprehensive machine workshop
  • Dedicated training facility

HCA adds the project is strongly supported by the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (MRA) and Armadale City Council due to the possible economic benefits the development will bring to its surrounding community.

"We are the first company to commit to this Business Park, which will encourage more industry into this growing industrial area of Armadale," Harvey says.

Construction is due to commence in April 2014 with completion expected in June 2015.
