Sandvik, Downer join forces to service materials handling equipment

Sandvik Mining Systems and engineering service provider Downer EDI are to work together to offer field service and maintenance solutions for Australian mining materials handling projects under a memorandum of agreement (MOA) announced late last week.

Under the terms of the agreement, Sandvik will be able to provide a more extensive field service offering by engaging Downer to carry out on-site maintenance work on Sandvik equipment.

“We are delighted to be working with Downer,” Sandvik Mining Systems global operations and maintenance manager Wayne Slight says. “This agreement will offer enormous benefits to our customers’ productivity and operations around Australia.”

Downer bids and contracts manager Paul Gilbert says the MOA is a “best-fit” solution for both organisations and their customers as the company has an extensive history in the mining and construction industry, augmented by extensive knowledge of Sandvik Mining Systems and the expertise to maintain them correctly.

“This agreement will allow us to carry out full servicing, repairs and maintenance on Sandvik Mining Systems, including working with on-site service crews, to ensure the equipment continues to operate safely, optimally and reliably,” Gilbert says.
