Komatsu puts focus on fleet management centre

Komatsu Australia has placed its new INSITE Fleet Management Centre in a prominent position at its Fairfield, NSW, headquarters to highlight the importance it places on customer relations, the company says.

The recently revealed INSITE centre uses 10 constantly updated monitors to display the data of all key machine, production, fleet and industry parameters – including its KOMTRAX remote monitoring offerings – across all operating Komatsu machines in Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia.

In addition, the centre displays the ‘big picture’ with global and economy-wide data (such as stocks and share prices, commodity prices and production trends) and utilisation levels across industry sectors (for example, coal mining or iron ore).

Komatsu head of fleet management & ICT Todd Connolly says the decision to locate the INSITE centre prominently within the headquarters "was to highlight to each and every Komatsu employee the importance of this primary focus on customers, their operations, and their needs – and using our advanced ICT knowledge and expertise to achieve this".

"What we are doing from our INSITE Centre is front and centre of what we do as a company; it gives us a suite of products across telematics, machine monitoring, machine health, fleet management, service and support," Connolly says.

The INSITE Centre team receives its data from telemetry, machine health and service monitoring systems, gathering them in one place.

Komatsu Australia managing director and CEO Sean Taylor believes the centre is essential to the company’s ‘customer first’ philosophy and its long-term success.

"We want everyone within Komatsu to be aware of what a critical and important role they all play in supporting our customers, and how our customers contribute to the long-term success of our business," he says.

"It’s all about helping our customers achieve their goals, including lower costs per tonne, managing machine health and achieving higher productivity."
