JB Attachments is rebranding itself as Calibre Contracting Equipment, saying the name change reflects changes to its operating model and design process. The change will be effective from October 1, 2016.
JB Attachments was formed in 2008 from the merger of two traditional engineering companies who had been operating since the 1950, releasing the first quick-hitch coupler in the 1980s. Since then the company has been known for its extensive range of couplers, buckets, grapples and attachment accessories.
Calibre Contracting Equipment says the move comes after a three-year process of modernisation for the company, with a greater focus on developing new types of attachments and new attachment solutions. Calibre says it wants to develop attachments that are seen as assets in their own right alongside excavators.
One of the fields Calibre has been researching extensively is collaborative robotics or co-robots – robots that are designed to work in partnership with humans. From this research Calibre says it has developed a new range of attachments that are designed to act as an extension of the operator’s wrist and hand at the end of the excavator.
Calibre Contracting Equipment says the name change is also a reflection of its desire to be a world leader in co-robotic excavator attachments.
The new range of Calibre Contracting Equipment co-robotic attachments will be announced over the coming weeks, after the October 1 rebrand.
