Forecast Machinery is based in the Darwin area and is owned and operated by Tom and Andy Bate. Billed as a ‘one stop construction shop’ for the Northern Territory, Forecast Machinery provides end-to-end sales and servicing of construction machinery for a diverse range of clients.

The market in the Northern Territory is unique, with a mix of primary resources, defence, civil construction, residential construction and small local projects all requiring very different machines.

Andy Bate says Forecast Machinery technicians have been servicing Kobelco machines for the past four years, so the addition of the brand to Forecast’s sales division made sense. The group had also been looking to add larger excavators to its lineup.

"While all of our servicing staff are trained heavy-diesel fitters and we've been servicing Kobelco machines for the past four years," Andy says.

"The sales side of our business for excavators has mostly been in smaller and mid-sized machines until now. The addition of the Kobelco range is a logical next step for us.

"We have a good reputation built on quality sales with dependable and timely service, so adding Kobelco excavators to our range is a great solution for our clients," Andy says.

Kobelco says they are excited about the new partnership and what it means for the brand in the region.

"Forecast Machinery are experts in their field and Kobelco is proud to be partnering with Tom and Andy as they build Forecast's presence in the excavator sales market," Kobelco general manager Doug McQuinn says.

"With a reputation in the Northern Territory for outstanding service and reliability, it's a great fit for both Kobelco and Forecast Machinery," McQuinn adds.
