Two Earthmovers & Excavators favourites, the Hilux and the Landcruiser Prado, recorded their highest levels of May sales since 2012.

The Toyota Hilux finished 2016 as Australia’s highest selling vehicle and is on track to repeat the feat in 2017. The ute added another 4,150 sales in May, bringing its year-to-date total to 17,900.

In addition to the Hilux and Prado, Toyota also had segment sales leaders with the Landcruiser wagon, the HiAce van and HiAce bus.

Toyota says its total year-to-date sales figures for all vehicles is now 84,490 which represents a 5.3 percent increase over the same period last year.

Toyota says the results are a credit to the dedication of its staff and reflects the quality of Toyota vehicles.

"Australia is one of the most competitive markets in the world," Toyota executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb says.

"Yet Toyota customers remain incredibly loyal with a passion that has enabled us to achieve a share of at least 19 percent in five of the past 11 months."
