Trimble has announced that it is entering into collaboration with Australian construction drone data specialist Propeller Aero to improve compatibility between the two firms’ data systems.

Sydney-based Propeller is a leading supplier of unmanned aircraft system (UAS), or drone-based 3D data collection and surveying solutions. In particular they offer a cloud-based data visualisation program called Platform and physical ground control points called AeroPoints.

Trimble is looking to integrate Platform and AeroPoints into its Trimble Connected Site system, giving its users greater options when it comes to collecting and interpreting 3D survey data.

"Propeller combines ease of use with powerful analysis tools that allow users to view 2D and 3D deliverables and extract valuable information," Trimble marketing director Scott Crozier says.

"Like Trimble, Propeller understands the value of quality and accurate data for integration with civil engineering and construction workflows."

Propeller says combining the 3D visual data from Platform with Trimble’s precision connected equipment systems will give customers a truly end-to-end UAV survey solution.

"We pride ourselves in taking the most trusted, technical data and tools and wrapping that up in an easy-to-use online platform that is relevant to the entire organization, not just technical users," Propeller Aero CEO Rory San Miguel says.

"Working closely with Trimble demonstrates a shared commitment to achieving that vision. Integrating our platform into Trimble's Connected Site solutions will bring a new class of information to construction sites and organizations globally."

The announcement coincides with Propeller’s first overseas expansion, with the company opening a North American HQ in Denver, Colorado.
