Turkish-based Hidromek export area manager Bahadır Yılmaz visited Australia along with director/part owner Ahmet Bozkurt and international sales manager Engin Barutcuoglu earlier this year.

They spent a number of days visiting the Melbourne Onetrak branch and various Hidromek customers in Victoria, alongside Onetrak managing director and founder CEO David Hazell, while they were here.

Hazell says it is always an honour to host Hidromek representatives, whose visits to Australia since the deal with Onetrak was made have been quite frequent.

Hazell says that the adoption of the Hiromek brand since its introduction domestically has exceeded all expectations and his Turkish counterparts are equally impressed with how the brand has been embraced by Australian operators in such a short space of time.

"We are genuinely happy with the uptake that we have seen from operators of the Hidromek brand in Australia since its launch last year.

"With the exception of South Australia, we have now put machines into every state.

"We are also renting quite a number of Hidromek excavators too, which is encouraging and gives potential customers that chance to trial these machines for themselves.

"The feedback we have had from operators on this brand in the Australian market has been resoundingly great, so that’s has been key really and incredibly encouraging for us.

"We visited a number of customers in Victoria earlier this year along with the guys we were hosting from the Hidromek headquarters in Turkey, and one Melbourne operator commented that the stability and performance of his excavator is up there with the flagship brands such as Komatsu.

"So hearing that just encourages us to keep really pushing and getting the message out to operators big and small to give Hidromek a go; because none of those who have has been disappointed.

"Having Hidromek as a new brand in the Australian market has also enabled us to pick up a number of new clients, outside of the usual Hyundai customers that we have traditionally had, which is just fantastic for us."

International Sales Manager Engin Barutcuoglu echoed Hazell’s sentiments saying that they are very pleased that they made the decision to work with Onetrak in Australia and that Hidromek’s early success can be attributed to the hard work from the team down-under in proactively engaging with local operators.

"There is no doubt that our expansion into Australia and partnership with Onetrak has gotten off to a promising start," Barutcuoglu explains.

"Australia is a new market for us and a lot of planning has gone into this.

"Still no matter how much planning you put in, there is always an element of the unknown when you are expanding into a new country and we we’re very aware of this.

"Thankfully it seems that we made a good decision in going with Onetrak and their dedication and hard work is obvious to us. They have done a great job and it is greatly appreciated.

"The first thing is the brand weakness, getting people to know about Hidromek and building trust with people in the industry. Onetak have positioned us very well in the market and we are really looking forward to see the progress each year as that grows.

"Of course meeting Australian customers and hearing the great things they have to say about our product and how its helping them is very rewarding and we are very pleased to be at the stage where we are able to come over and do that."

2019 is looking bright for Onetrak and the Hidromek brand in particular, with sales of the HMK 200 W going especially well and proving popular with waste management site operators and with the gradual release of a wider range of excavators in Australia expected later this year.
