Turkish manufacturer Hidromek was awarded the top award at the German Design 2020 competition recently for its newly developed 100 per cent electric wheeled excavator Hicon 7W.

Organized every year by the German Design Council the awards are granted to projects that make pioneering contributions to the area of international design. Hidromek, which was granted ‘Special Mention’ at the German Design Award 2017 with its HMK 600 MG motor grader and was a winner at the German Design Award 2018 with its HMK 640 WL wheel loader, has now added a third to its accolades with the Hicon 7W.

The 100 per cent electric Hicon 7W stands out by being smart, economic and eco firendly, says Hidromek. The Hicon 7W can be easily used in tight spaces in urban environments, with its zero emission and compact dimensions, and relays information with its rear secreen to its surroundings for safe driving with its Environmental Safety System.

Efficient power consumption and low maintenance costs make the machine an economical option, Hidromek says. One-time charge of the lithium ion batteries provides eight hours of usage.  It can be fully charged in three hours or a 30 minute quick charge is also available.

The Hicon 7W was displayed for the first time at the prestigious Bauma 2019 show in Germany last year. Serving in the construction equipment sector for 41 years, this latest win has increased the number of Hidromek’s design awards to 18.

Hidromek machines are distributed in Australia by Onetrak.
