Cord Civil wins big at CCF ACT Earth awards

Cord Civil was a big winner at the Civil Contractors Federation ACT Earth awards, held on Friday May 21.

Cord claimed four prizes at the event, winning the Outstanding ACT Government Project award alongside successes in the ‘project value up to $2 million’ category plus the $2-5 million and $5-10 million categories.

The company’s Belconnen Bikeway Construction Stage 1 and 2 project was responsible for earning two of the prizes – the Outstanding ACT Government Project award and the $5-10 million category.

Their other projects which gained recognition were the Norse Road and Railway Street intersection upgrade and Crace odour control and ventilation works.

CCF ACT’s chief executive officer Michael Hopkins says the night was an exciting opportunity to celebrate the sector’s achievements in the same room after the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“While some industries went virtual last year and worked from home, the civil sector were working hard on numerous infrastructure projects around the Canberra region,” he says.

“They were forced to adapt to new health and safety practices while being faced with strict deadlines to deliver crucial infrastructure projects.

“Civil projects can be overlooked because a lot of the effort sits below the surface, so it is fantastic to have the opportunity to celebrate our hard-working members.”
