Big turn-out for inaugural Dig Deep event

A strong turn-out for the inaugural Dig Deep event has seen new funds raised for Beyond Blue

The inaugural Dig Deep event has been hailed as a great success by event organisers as much needed funds were raised to tackle mental health challenges within the earthmoving sector.

Held on Sunday, May 29 at Gaelic Park in Keysborough, Melbourne, Dig Deep showcased the best earthmoving machinery, equipment, and attachments from a catalogue of Australian and international manufacturers.

But the day was about more than mingling with other industry businesses. Dig Deep sought to raise funds for Beyond Blue and increase awareness for mental health issues which are prevalent throughout the construction and earthmoving industries.

“We would like to thank our event sponsors, exhibitors, the hard-working crew, and most of all the many people who exceeded all expectations and came out in force to the event,” co-founder and CRE Group director Patrick Doheny says.

“It was fantastic to see so many people enjoying the displays, watching the William Adams Cat Global Operator Challenge, and more importantly, helping Beyond Blue help this industry we all work in and love.”

It was a second triumph for Doheny, who also won the William Adams Cat Global Operator Challenge that took place throughout the day, with ten finalists competing.

Doheny will represent William Adams Cat at the Global Operator Challenge regional finals in Japan in October.

Prior to the event, organisers had hoped to raise $1 million dollars to tackle mental health in the industry. The final amount is still being tallied up.

All profits from the event will be donated to Beyond Blue.

Other highlights of the event included interactive and new exhibits from Hitachi Construction and CJD Equipment, while mini golf, simulators, and a massage and relaxation zone were all also on offer.
