JCB releases the Pothole Pro in Australia

The new Pothole Pro is bringing advanced features to road repair

The JCB Pothole Pro is “designed to revolutionise the roadworks industry for councils and contractors” JCB says with its high perfomance JCB Ecomax engine that means the Pothole Pro can achieve speeds of up to 40km/h when moving between sites.

The Pothole Pro incorporates JCB’s ‘Cut, Crop, Clean’ process. With the side shifting 600mm planer, the machine efficiently cuts against the roadside kerb to a depth of 170mm, while the self-levelling mechanism guarantees consistent results, regardless of the gradient, it says. To further enhance the longevity of repairs, the 600mm cropping tool creates a uniform hole profile for long-lasting patches. A variety of blades can be fitted for versatility.

Equipped with a 1,200mm-wide sweeper collector featuring dust suppression, the Pothole Pro prepares potholes in a matter of minutes. Operators can collect and dump chippings using either bucket mode or by engaging the brush, significantly reducing the time required for road surface preparation before re-laying.

JCB’s Pothole Pro has an average repair time of just eight minutes, which can equate to 250 square metres of repairs a day or 700 potholes a month. On average, a pothole repair with the JCB Pothole Pro costs $55.

From the comfort of the operator’s seat, adjustments to the 600mm planer can be easily made, thanks to hydraulic depth and tilt control.

The JCB Pothole Pro is currently being demonstrated to current and potential customers within Australia, showing how it completes tasks that would typically require 20 to 30 minutes of manual labour with a jackhammer, achieving the same results in just four minutes. These demonstrations reinforce the machine’s exceptional efficiencies and highlight its potential to transform road maintenance practices.
