Kennards Hire acquires Bendigo Hire

Kennards Hire has announced its purchase of Bendigo Hire, marking its entry into regional Victoria

Australian family-owned and operated equipment hire company Kennards Hire is expanding its footprint in Victoria with its first regional acquisition in the state.

The acquisition of Bendigo Hire marks the company’s first foray into regional Victoria, taking the state’s network footprint to 32 branches – with more new sites planned over the coming months.

Kennards Hire will expand Bendigo Hire’s existing equipment offering with a range of new products. This will include a range of test and measure equipment, an eight-tonne excavator, concrete grinders and planers, concrete vacuums for silica dust, two-tonne and five-tonne tipper trucks, a range of traffic management equipment, 4” and 6” pumps, a large tracked skid steer loader, and a range of lift and shift equipment.

Bendigo Hire has supplied equipment in and around the region for more than 50 years and former Bendigo Hire owner Paul Rockes says the acquisition was a “no-brainer” as he was nearing the age of retirement.

“There’s hardly a job that’s been done in Bendigo, and I don’t think there’s been a backyard, or a garden landscaped in Bendigo, without equipment from Bendigo Hire,” he says.

“As a family-owned and operated business, we know Kennards Hire will do a good job of continuing our legacy by helping to make our customers’ jobs easy.”

Kennards Hire Victorian general manager Lance Hawes says the acquisition was a special one for the business, marking its first true regional branch in Victoria.

“We look forward to being able to support the local community by adding our breadth of experience and resources to a team that knows and understands its customers,” Hawes says.

Hawes says Kennards Hire commits to maintaining the spirit of family and community.

“The most exciting thing for us is that all of the existing Bendigo Hire staff will be joining the Kennards Hire family,” he says.

“With their local knowledge and product expertise, along with an increased product range and ability for customers to access our entire branch network, we will continue to build on the exceptional work Bendigo Hire has done serving the community for more than 50 years.”

Selected pieces of Bendigo Hire equipment and memorabilia will be sent to Sydney and housed in the Kennards Hire Museum.

The new branch is located at 162 Lyttleton Terrace, Bendigo. For more information, call the Kennards Hire Bendigo team on (03) 5440 8500 or visit kennards.com.au.
