Komatsu adds colourful decal for mental health

The machinery manufacturer has added a striking colour scheme to one of its dozers

Komatsu has teamed up with Teneo to deck out one of its dozers with TradeMutt colours to raise awareness about mental health in the mining sector.

Teneo is an Australian environmental containment specialist, with over 40 years of experience in the waste, oil, gas, mining and water industries. Operating in typically male-dominated fields, it aims to shine a light on mental health issues and encourage open discussions among its workers.

TradeMutt meanwhile produces funky eye-catching workwear designed to start conversations about mental health.

The Komatsu D375A-8 dozer with its striking design travelled from Mt Thorley to Mt Piper late last year.

Teneo COO Graham McManmon says the painted machine is a pledge to the often-invisible issue of mental health – with the aim of breaking down stigma and encourage workers in the industry to speak up about their struggles.

“Mental health is a crucial topic, especially in industries like ours with high numbers of FIFO workers who spend long periods away from home,” McManmon says.

“Teneo really values working alongside companies like Komatsu, who are committed to fostering a culture where employees check in on each other and offer support and camaraderie among each other in challenging work environments.

“By taking this step, together we all hope to spark meaningful conversations and create a supportive workplace where mental health is a priority. This initiative is just the beginning of a broader push to ensure workers feel seen, heard, and supported.”
