Komatsu Aus seeks 50th anniversary help

Komatsu Australia is celebrating 50 years of selling, servicing and supporting earthmoving, construction, mining and quarrying equipment in Australia this year, and is asking for help in tracking down Komatsu machines and customers from the early days.

The company’s presence in Australia began with the appointment of LeTourneau Westinghouse as nationwide distributor in August 1965. The company, later known as Wabco Australia, began selling Komatsu dozers to customers around Australia – some whom, Komatsu says, are still customers today.

Since then, both the company and its range of products have expanded quickly: Komatsu Australia now has over 50 branches, service depots, and assembly and remanufacturing centres across the country, and supplies the construction, mining, quarrying, utility, local government and related industry sectors with dozers, excavators, mining shovels, graders, wheel loaders, skid-steer loaders, dump trucks, crushers and backhoes.

Throughout 2015 the company will be reviewing its history, highlighting the earliest machines sold in Australia — some of which are still operating — and recognising some of its oldest and most loyal customers.
