Kubota Australia has announced the launch of two new mini-excavator models, the KX016-4 and KX-018-4 which will replace the KX41-3 model.
According to Kubota, the KX41-3 was an immensely popular model but had been discontinued from January this year.
Kubota’s Product Manager for Construction Equipment Rohan Kemp says the KX41-3 has been a “great, loyal servant” to many contractors but all good things must come to an end.
“With the successful introduction of new technologies across larger models in our range, these must eventually flow down through to the sub two tonne products,” he says.
“This means that the new KX018-4, for example, has a number of safety, comfort and performance features that have been used extensively in our larger products.”
The new models were officially launched at a dealer-only event held recently in Melbourne.
Kubota says the new models incorporates the KX41-3’s core but have added features resulting in more versatile, more comfortable and more productive machines for operators across the country.
Kubota adds the units are designed specifically for the hire and rental market.
Both units fall below the two tonne mark and have total operating weights of 1700kg for the KX016-4 and 1570 kg for the KX018-4 (including standard operator weight of 80kg). This allows easier transportation of the machinery and for rental yards to hire them out to a larger client base, with many current model sedans able to comfortably tow either model from a rental yard.
An upgrade which received the praise of dealers at the launch event was the increased workspace that the new models offer. A completely flat operator platform allows the operator to easily enter and exit the machine without having to navigate past controls.
Other key features added for the new models include single lever track adjustment, an out front indicator panel and sturdy steel bonnets.
Kubota says the units mark the first of many to be produced in Kubota’s new production facility in Germany. The factory replicates the stringent Japanese standards of production that Kubota customers have become accustomed to.
The company adds that Japan will continue to be the home for the vast majority of Kubota excavators but due to a number of natural disasters in Asia, production facilities have been spread out across continents to ensure uninterrupted supply of machines to the Australian dealer network.
